i made this little guy for miss jessica.
{for the hoop up! stitch & send swap.}

is it bad that i want to hold mister owl for ransom???

i guess i can give him up.
but only because i know he's for jessica's adorable son.

speaking of jessica...
yall HAVE to go check out her & jennifer's blog: twin fibers.
you'll thank me for it later.

inspired by stitcheries.

19 February 2010

inspired by stitcheries.

so my good buddy john had this amazing idea around the holidays.
the idea was to have a stitch & send swap.
brillant if you ask me.

it was an invitation only swap {thanks john} and we all were immediately stoked.
the excitement was contagious. really.

we we're all broken down into small groups and we all picked a theme.
i went back & forth on a theme...
irish. twilight. friends the tv show. matryoshka dolls. something baby{ish}.
i just couldn't decide. at all.

well then morning sickness hit me like a truck and yall know how that went.
i started getting everyone's fabric and floss.
i didn't mail out my stuff on time. still hadn't picked a theme.
i was SO disgusted with myself.

so here i am...a month late picking my theme...but i finally picked something.
{all along i think it's been in the back of my mind, but i'm southern so i'm stubborn.}

easily enough...i made a mosaic of my favorite stitcheries.

after much deliberation...
i decided to have each swapper stitch something using my mosaic as inspiration.
as yall can tell, i like all colors and themes.

when the pieces come home, they will hang in hoops on my quilty room wall.
{to be enjoyed & inspired by them ALL the time.}

are yall inspired my stitcheries???
i know i am. alot.

p.s. to see all the resources to individual stitcheries, click the pic.
it'll shoot you over to flickr for the links.

modern siggy swap.

07 January 2010

modern siggy swap. {intro.}

welcome to the modern siggy swap yall.

in this version of the siggy swap we'll be using fresh, modern fabrics.

some fresh, modern fabrics would included any of the following designers:
kate spain, heather bailey, anna maria horner, tula pink,
amy butler, lila tueller, joel dewberry, paula prass, patty young
denyse schmidt, sandi henderson, erin mcmorris, tina givens
basic grey, momo, & chez moi.
just to name a few. lol.

if you have a question about a certain fabric, just ask.

if you've seen my tutorial, you know these blocks are easy peasy to make.
the amount of blocks made will depend on the number of swappers.
if we have 50 swappers, yall will make 51 blocks.
if we have 100 swappers, yall will make 101 blocks.
{sign ups will close at 100. that's a promise.}

so why the extra block???
i am asking that everyone make one additional block.
i will be making a charity quilt with all extra blocks.
this quilt will be blessed to a worthy cause.
{us swappers will discuss this later on.}

just a few particulars/guidelines:
you must follow my siggy block tutorial.
you must use quilt shop quality fabrics.
you must use a white fabric as your block centers. not cream.
you must handwrite your signature. not machine stitch it.

this will be a centralized swap...
meaning all blocks will be mailed to me.
with your blocks you'll include a SASE for blocks to be returned to you.
note: if you don't send a SASE, you blocks will live at my house until you send one.
it's only fair.

since this is centralized...international pals are very welcomed!!!
{we will use paypal for US postage fees.}

we will be communicating through our modern siggy swap flickr group.
NOT this blog.

sign ups start now and will stay open until january 15th at midnight.
deadline for mailing blocks will be march 1st.

sign ups will be conducted via email.
email me: rachel {at} psiquilt {dot} com
{please use "modern siggy swap" in the subject line.}

your email should include the following info:
your name.
your flickr link.
your address.

even though yall are signing up via email...
leave a comment so everyone can see who is playing along.
{that's the fun part before the swapping part.}

modern siggy swap. {button.}

and please take a button to spread the word.
trust me that yall won't want to miss out.

sign ups close when we reach 100 swappers or january 15th.
whichever comes first.

sign ups are now closed!!!
{we hit 100 swappers within a few hours!!!}

send your email, join the flickr group, leave a comment & grab the button!!!
on your marks...get set...go!!!

p.s. i've already made all 101 of my blocks!!!
{i had to have pics for the blog & button. lol.}
it only took me the weekend to make them all.
101 might sound like alot, but it was easy peasy.
promise.

i'm still ONLY gauging interest, just so i know what to expect.
so let me know if yall are interested...or still interested.

please note:
saying you are interested now does not automatically commit you to the swap.
there will be official sign ups after the new year.

lucky or blessed?!?!

21 April 2009

i am either very lucky to get this amazing little doll quilt...
or i am totally blessed...i can't decide.
:O)

yall are looking at the cutest little doll quilt known to man.
well one of them anyways...the other one is HERE.
i am SO lucky blessed to own them both!!!

this adorable little quilt was made by a fellow georgia gal, claire.
{yall can find her under her flickr name: milliemorgan.}
she made this JUST FOR ME for the doll quilt swap 6.
and she totally just gets me. lol.

i gotta tell yall...
when i opened my package, i cried like a baby.
{i know, i know...here she goes with the crying again.}
i ♥ the quilt. ALOT.
but what made me cry was the pincushion.
WHAT!?! <--- i heard yall say that. lol.
just keep reading.

the fact that she made me something that reflected my home state...
let's just say it was touching to say the least.

thanks SO much claire!!!
it was fun to go back through the teaser pics & see my comments about this quilt.
{for those that don't know, our swap partners were secret.}

this little quilt is amazing!!!
i ♥ the fabric choices!!!
i ♥ the scalloped border!!!
and i really ♥ how it looks on my dining room table!!!

so...i'm SUPER lucky.
and i'm SUPER blessed.

oh and do wanna know something funny???
when i look at this quilt, for some reason, it reminds me of nanette.
i don't know why, it just does. lol.

p.s. we've had very ireland-ish weather here, so please excuse the pic quality.

murder she wrote quilted.

08 April 2009

well...i'm dead.
definitely dead.

remember how i told yall i was a target???
well my weapon came...and you're looking at it.

i guess it's not too bad to be assassinated by a quilt.
especially when it looks like this!!!

natalie, who i thought was my friend, killed me.
i even let her in my bee inspired group and everything.
and what do i get in return?!?!
killed...without mercy.
thanks alot natalie.
hahaha.

and i bet she thought that cute little smiley face on the label was gonna cushion the blow!!!
well...it DID...tehehe.

i was glad to die at the {quilty} hands of natalie though.
she already knew my irishy taste and that i ♥ pinwheels!!!
thanks natalie...you rock my socks off chicka.

even though i'm deader than dead, my weapon is still in transit to my target.
and that ladies & gentlemen...is how i roll.

{it's gotta wait in line though, just for another week or so.}

if yes, what color???
and should i go with 1 1/2" or 2" wide???
please feel free to throw in your 2 cents.

can yall guess which one i made???
i'll give yall a hint:
it's irish and it rhymes with shmim-meal.

i. am. speechless.

11 March 2009

i. am. speechless.
someone made this for ME...rachel!!!

this someone just happens to be the amazingly talented esther.

i literally cried when i opened it.
seriously.
no one has EVER made a quilt specifically for me. EVER.
i was truly touched. and i still am.

back in november we picked our preferences:
i chose red & brown as my colors.
i chose fall as my season.
and i chose a wall quilt.
i'd say esther completely nailed it!!!
wouldn't yall???

her attention to detail is out of this world.
i ♥ everything about this little quilt.
{and the goodies that came with it!!!}

thank you, thank you, thank you esther!!!
i feel like such a lucky gal!!!
i will cherish it forever.
and ever.
promise.

p.s. thank yall for all the "get well" wishes.
