build a quilt workshop.

30 September 2011

baqw-main

so build a quilt workshop...
it's something i've been contemplating for a long, long time.

the idea is to host online workshops in a quilt along style atmosphere.
we'll be using a private flickr group as our platform.
and everyone loves taking classes with their friends, right?!?!

classes will start mid october.
once your class fee is paid, you'll be invited to join our private flickr group.
and that's when the fun starts.
{providing we all like this concept, more classes will be added.}

baqw

the basics class-
in this class we will build a simplistic patchwork quilt, start to finish, using all the basics.
this class is perfect for beginners.
pay the basics class fee HERE.
limited spots available.

baqw

facade class-
in this class we will build a modern patchwork quilt.
this class is perfect for confident beginners through advanced quilters.

good fortune - final
*facade quilt we will be building*

pay the facade class fee HERE.
limited spots available.

paid class members will recieve a 20% discount via fat quarter shop towards their next purchase. {code will given via flickr group.}

so who's ready to build some quilts?!?!
:D

sullivan's edge ruler blog hop.

27 September 2011

{comments closed.}
winners = chris {frecklemama} & cammie
email pat sloan at pat@patsloan.com
and for those that didn't win: if you are interested in buying a ruler, you can find them in quilt shops and at joann’s online.

welcome to the sullivan's edge ruler blog hop yall :)

making the binding.

our awesome hostess for this blog hop is none other than miss pat sloan.
{hiya pat. xoxo.}

our sponsor for this blog hop is sullivan's cutting edge rulers.

these rulers were designed by pat sloan.
AND they sharpen your rotary blade WHILE you cut your fabric.
how cool is that?!?!

it's quite the ruler.
especially if you're a "kill 2 birds with 1 stone" kinda peep like i am.
:)

these rulers come in 10 sizes -
4 1/2" square
6 1/2" square
9 1/2" square
12 1/2" square
16 1/2" square
6 1/2" x 18" rectangle
6 1/2" x 24 1/2" rectangle
4 1/2" x 37" -aka yardstick size-
-i own the 4 1/2" square, 12 1/2" square & the yardstick size-

004

my ruler thoughts:
i personally enjoy the 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" ruler.
it's the perfect size to use when i trim up my binding strips.
i love having a little ruler for these small trims, don't yall???

i also like the classic 12 1/2" x 12 1/2" ruler.
it's real handy if you're an improv block maker & simply need to trim your blocks.

the yardstick comes in handy for both measuring yardage as well as trimming borders. <--i'm not a fan of trimming borders. lol.

i enjoy the red lines on the rulers, but i think the frost is a smidge too heavy for my taste.
not enough that i don't wanna use the ruler though.

all in all i would recommend these rulers to yall.
you really can't beat the fact that it sharpens your blades while you cut.
win-win scenario.

yall can find the rulers at your local quilt shop, pat sloan or online via joann's.

since every blog hop needs fun questions:

sweet tea

if i take a look inside your refrigerator what would i find?
sweet tea. always.
{for my daddy's sweet tea recipe, click HERE.}

friends

what is your favorite TV show of ALL TIME and why?
hands down it's friends.
best. show. EVER. made.
real people. real problems. real emotions. real humor. & all together perfect.

sandra bullock 3

if hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to see play the lead role as you?
that's easy . . . sandra bullock.
i'm convinced she'd pull off the perfect rachel griffith. <--especially if this is the southern-ish sandra bullock from hope floats, divine secrets of the ya ya sisterhood & the blind side. . .mixed in with some of her quirks from the proposal.

no blog hop would be complete without a giveaway:
one lucky ps i quilt reader will win their own sullivan's edge ruler. <--winner picks desired size.
just leave me a comment telling me what actor/actress would play you.
{winner will be drawn october 3rd.}

and don't forget to visit all the peeps on our blog tour:

revamping.

19 September 2011

revamping.

definition of revamp:
remake. revise. renovate. reconstruct.

yep.
that pretty much sums things up in the griffith house.

let me 'splain...
i went from having 1 kiddo in school to having 3 in school.
which is quite the adjustment if i do say so myself.

football & cheerleading is in full swing.
practices 3 times a week with games on saturdays.

the hubby is now officially back to work since his surgery.
which i'm very, very thankful for.

and if you mix all that with my 4 kiddos battling fall colds on top of an unexpected hospital stay...WHAM it's 2 weeks later.

i'm remaking, revising, renovating & reconstructing.
so here's to revamping.
:D
