sullivan's edge ruler blog hop.

winners = chris {frecklemama} & cammie
email pat sloan at pat@patsloan.com
and for those that didn't win: if you are interested in buying a ruler, you can find them in quilt shops and at joann’s online.

welcome to the sullivan's edge ruler blog hop yall :)

making the binding.

our awesome hostess for this blog hop is none other than miss pat sloan.
{hiya pat. xoxo.}

our sponsor for this blog hop is sullivan's cutting edge rulers.

these rulers were designed by pat sloan.
AND they sharpen your rotary blade WHILE you cut your fabric.
how cool is that?!?!

it's quite the ruler.
especially if you're a "kill 2 birds with 1 stone" kinda peep like i am.
:)

these rulers come in 10 sizes -
4 1/2" square
6 1/2" square
9 1/2" square
12 1/2" square
16 1/2" square
6 1/2" x 18" rectangle
6 1/2" x 24 1/2" rectangle
4 1/2" x 37" -aka yardstick size-
-i own the 4 1/2" square, 12 1/2" square & the yardstick size-

004

my ruler thoughts:
i personally enjoy the 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" ruler.
it's the perfect size to use when i trim up my binding strips.
i love having a little ruler for these small trims, don't yall???

i also like the classic 12 1/2" x 12 1/2" ruler.
it's real handy if you're an improv block maker & simply need to trim your blocks.

the yardstick comes in handy for both measuring yardage as well as trimming borders. <--i'm not a fan of trimming borders. lol.

i enjoy the red lines on the rulers, but i think the frost is a smidge too heavy for my taste.
not enough that i don't wanna use the ruler though.

all in all i would recommend these rulers to yall.
you really can't beat the fact that it sharpens your blades while you cut.
win-win scenario.

yall can find the rulers at your local quilt shop, pat sloan or online via joann's.

since every blog hop needs fun questions:

sweet tea

if i take a look inside your refrigerator what would i find?
sweet tea. always.
{for my daddy's sweet tea recipe, click HERE.}

friends

what is your favorite TV show of ALL TIME and why?
hands down it's friends.
best. show. EVER. made.
real people. real problems. real emotions. real humor. & all together perfect.

sandra bullock 3

if hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to see play the lead role as you?
that's easy . . . sandra bullock.
i'm convinced she'd pull off the perfect rachel griffith. <--especially if this is the southern-ish sandra bullock from hope floats, divine secrets of the ya ya sisterhood & the blind side. . .mixed in with some of her quirks from the proposal.

no blog hop would be complete without a giveaway:
one lucky ps i quilt reader will win their own sullivan's edge ruler. <--winner picks desired size.
just leave me a comment telling me what actor/actress would play you.
{winner will be drawn october 3rd.}

and don't forget to visit all the peeps on our blog tour:
{they'll also be having giveaways!!!}

It would have to be Rachel Carpani (Against the Wall) to play me. Her character in that show is similar to me - a people pleaser but kinda hard too. Thanks for sharing and being honest.

Kathy Bates with all the sass would play me in the movies! Thank you for the chance to win the ruler.

How fun! Those rulers look great! I would love to be portrayed by the lovely and elegant Audrey Hepburn from My Fair Lady, but of course no one would recognize me because I am nothing like her! But I always wished I could be lovely and elegant...oh well, I will just be happy being myself :)

I have literally no idea who would play me. But I would insist that Gerard Butler played my love interest (although, if that was the case, I'd probably play myself).

She looks nothing like me but Catherine Zeta Jones would have to play me bz my husband says she's the most beautiful woman in the world and then he could finally have her to himself if she played me (all in good fun though). My favorite all time TV show would have to be Judge Judy! You gotta love her no nonsense approach to life.

Lucille Ball!
I have red hair and am goofy too :)

And as for actresses, well, I think Christina Hendricks from Mad Men would work. She's a sarcastic, curvy redhead. But if they could get Jason Statham to play my husband, I would be thrilled - even if they are absolutely nothing alike. lol

Deb said...

Thanks for the chance for one of those awesome rulers...they look so cool! I'd have Lauren Graham play me in a movie. She looks nothing like me, but I think she's great and I'd like to think we're kind of alike.

If they ever made a movie of my very strange life, I hope the actress to play me would be Julia Roberts. :)

Laurel said...

i just spent a ridiculous amount of time debating this! and i came up with mandy moore.

Deborah in Atlanta said...

Well...considering I'm kinda "up there" in age (58 years of age), I guess I'll pick an older lady. Hmm...I guess I'd pick Helen Mirren (she's playing in "The Debt" with the scar on her face). I recently saw photos of her in a bikini, and that lady totally ROCKS!!! Holy-moley, I'd love her to play me in the movie and I want her to be in bikinis for the entire show. Of course, I've been in a one-piece bathing suit for eons and wouldn't be caught dead in a bikini. But yep - I totally want her to play me. Uh-huh.

Julia said...

I would want Tina Fey to play me in my life movie. I love her dry and sarcastic humor!

Diane E W said...

Oh gosh, who could play me....I think Julia Roberts, if she would put on about 75lbs. Dolly Parton could play my sister, both like bling and flash. Like in Steel Magnolia, set in the south, with a lot of southern humor. That would be us.

littlebudswks said...

I am not any good with actresses names. The lady who does Pretty woman. I love her. She could be me. OH Julia Roberts!!!!

I would have to say I would want Betty White play me... she is such a wonderful happy actress always wanting to try something new and staying young. Thanks for the giveaway.

Heide said...

One of the reasons I blog hop is that I learn so many new things! The ink is fading on my current ruler, so I would love to win a Sullivan Edge ruler. What a novel concept to sharpen the blade while cutting. I admire Maureen O'Hara. Can you imagine co-starring with John Wayne back in the day? She played as a fiercely passionate heroine but with a highly sensible attitude. Can't say my life is all that exciting or glamorous , but maybe she could spice it up a bit...

Unknown said...

I haven't seen these rulers yet, but I have heard about them. I would love one. Person that I would like to play me is a comedian and her name is Jeanne Robertson. If you haven't heard of her you must go to you tube and plug in her name. She is Southern and finds humor in every day things. She is wonderful! Thank you for give away.

How cool to have a ruler that sharpens your blade - only a quilter could come up with that idea! LOVE it :)

Angelina Jolie would play me in a movie about my family - only because she and I look soooo much alike! And because my days are much like the days of Lara Croft ;)

Cool rulers! It would be fun to try one out.

glen: yep, that would be me

I am not a movie person at all, so I have no clue who would play me. Someone that does a little of everything, loves to bake, rides a motorcycle, loves to help friends get organized, loves to camp in the woods, but also someone that loves to quilt, and hang out with friends playing cards or domino's. Not a frilly type of a person at all, bluejeans and a t-shirt and I am a happy camper.

Meryl Streep...or at least I hope:-)

LOVE the rulers! I am currently using a blade that takes 2-3 passes to cut! LOL

I think Phylis Diller would suit me just fine ;) Thank you for being in this blog hop. And I learned from you that these were designed by Pat Sloan I had no idea!

Deb Fox-McHugh said...

Oh I forgot about the actress part of my comment! I would have to say Meryl Streep.

I would want Zooey Deschanel to play me. Her attitude is just about spot-on to mine. Audrey Tautou may also be a good fit, but she would have to put on a good 50 pounds. ;)

Thanks for the chance to win; a ruler that sharpens would be awesome.

These sound wonderful! I would love for Natalie Portman to portray me, not so much from Black Swan but I loved her in Where the Heart Is, Garden State, and Cold Mountain.

Greetings from the Live Free or Die State! I sooo love your blog...

A movie about my life - hmmm, without a doubt, the amazing Laura Linney

Hm. When I was younger I was told I looked like a cross between Meryl Streep and Marlee Matlin. But they both appear much shorter than myself, so I would pick Minnie Driver as a young me because she is tall and dark-haired.

These rulers look great, people tell me I look like Drew Berrymore so I will go with her. Thanks for the giveaway!!

Lisa England said...

I would pick Wendie Malik because I'd love to dream that I've ever been that thin.

I'm not much into acting...so I really couldn't say who I play...sorry.

However, a ruler that sharpens your cutter is just divine! What a great creation. =) And a fun blog hop!

Well now I guess I'd have to go with Meryl Streep, I'd want someone really good to get through all the complexities that my life has taken on :0).

Hi Rachel!
This looks like a cool ruler!
Thanks for the sweet tea recipe.
The only person that could play me in a movie would be Lauren Bacall (Hope I spelled that right). You know who I mean..."if you want to whistle, just put your lips together and blow..."
Love,
Mary

Hum, who would play me in a movie? i would say maybe sandra bullock, for her comedic roles like Ms. Congeniality....she is so funny!! I'm not funny, but I'm the type of gal that would walk out of a airstrip hanger, swaggering, and then trip and fall heehee

Dana Delaney...people have said we look alike for 25 years :)

I'd have to go with Cher-although the only thing we have in common these days is our hair length. And I have been eyeing these rulers, just can't justify spending the money to buy them until one of my current rulers dies. Would love to try one though.

Ummmmmm...I think Kirstie Allie would play me. I know she and I are no longer the same size (since she dropped weight and kept it off after being on Dancing with the Stars) but we have the same kind of quirky sense of humor, I believe!
