falling for fall.

03 September 2013

falling for fall.
it happens every year.

i fall madly in love with fall.
i just can't help it.
i'm a fall/winter girl.

i'll take falling leaves, friday night football games and pumpkins long before i'll take budding flowers, insects and watermelon.
it's just in my nature.
also, i can't stand watermelon. bleh. lol.

i'm amazed that i haven't decorated for fall yet.
normally i cave and do it the last weekend of august.
i bet my family is wondering what's wrong with me.
and i bet you can guess what i'll be doing this week.
yep, decorating.
*sigh*

when do y'all decorate for fall?

pic above = my fall fabric wreath.
tutorial can be found HERE.

I'm with you 100%, I am a fall girl too! I decorated my house two weeks ago! lol I was going to do it on my birthday but I decided to wait just a little longer. Hocus Pocus will be on repeat soon! Fall leaves, pumpkins, football, and hoodies make a happy person!

I'm a fall girl too. I don't really have to decorate for fall - most of my rooms have fall color schemes to begin with!! Right now I want to bake and make soup.

You and I alike! I love Autumn so much, "Autumn, where every leaf is a flower". I love the smell, the feeling of the crisp and easy to breath air, football season, planting the fall garden, pumpkin pie, Thanksgiving and Winter! Fall and Winter are the best seasons for me, hands down!

I love the cool mornings that we are starting to have, and then it still heats up nicely during the day. I made several of the wreaths earlier this year, and just started gathering fabrics for a Fall one, and Halloween one. I still have my red, white and blue patriotic one hanging on the front door, for Labor Day. Using the pinking shears to cut makes them extra cute, I think.

I am the same way! My Birthday is this month, and I have always loved fall. I hate the heat, that could be part of it. This year though, does seem like it isn't quite time yet. Maybe it is because my summer was so busy and went by so fast. I just want to hang right on to summer this year. I love that wreath. Gotta try that. Thanks!

I stopped decorating the outside of my front door. Decorations stay inside the front door now because one day, the birds decided that my door ornaments made for a good nesting place. When they nested, we could not open our front door for almost 3 months for fear the nest would fall off. Everyone had to come in through the garage door. That was the longest 3 months. My feline quilt tester was going nuts also because our front door has a small window shaped like an arch. She could see the baby birds when they hatched and were being fed by mama bird. It was fun for me to watch everything up close, though. I checked the progress of the eggs daily from inside my door. It was great to see nature up close.

I love decorating for fall. I think I have as many tote boxes of fall stuff as I do Christmas! We had a hot spell here in the St. Louis area the last couple of weeks after a pretty mild summer, so I haven't quite gotten in the fall decorating mood yet. We sat at a youth league football game last Saturday - 103 degrees - I felt like I was melting! LOL I'm hoping in the next couple of weeks to drag out the totes. I have a lot of indoor & outdoor decorations so it takes me a couple of days at least. I'm ready - bring on those cooler temps & the colors & smells of autumn!
