quilted heating pad.
it's march 4th, folks.
that means that today is MY day for the fat quarter gang.

i'm gonna show y'all how to make a quilted heating pad.
it's SUPER simplistic and perfect for aches, pains and general warmness.

Stripes although I wear more dots... but stripes because they can focus your eyes on an area or point you away. Also love this tutorial I will give it a go when I have a spare five minutes :D x

Dots or stripes...dots or stripes....I'd have to go with stripes. I find myself attracted to "industrial" type shapes/patterns, and stripes fit that category more than dots do.

A couple of tips on the heatpacks:
-If you add some flaxseed to your rice mix, it makes the pack stay hot longer, and the smaller seeds conform to your body better than plain rice.
-I always sew channels in my heatpacks so the filling stays put instead of sliding to one side. I make mine like yours, but when it is time to fill, I sew a partial line across the pack about 3 inches from the bottom, fill that section and sew the rest of the way across the partial line to close. Repeat another 3 inches up the bag, etc, until you've filled the whole thing. It is a little more time consuming, but it is worth the end result!

I love to wear stripes (seriously, my whole closet is full of horizontal stripes!) but I prefer to quilt with dots. In fact I don't think I have a single striped piece of fabric in my stash, weird, huh? Generally, I'm a dot gal. Really haven't met a dot I didn't instantly like. Stripes can be very pushy if you allow them to be bold. (Though I prefer looking at stripes for bias bindings and/or small borders.) Following Art Gallery's blog.
