two weeks from today...

two weeks from today i'll be on a plane to texas.
two weeks from today i'll be away from lindsey for the first time since birth.
two weeks from today i'll cry like a baby in the airport bathroom.
two weeks from today i'll just be rachel, not mommy, to everyone i'm around.
two weeks from today i'll call home a million times.
two weeks from today i'll have to just let go.

because in two weeks from today...
i'm teaching folks how to make my quilts.

Oh, she is sooo cute! I have no advice on this one...been there...done that...it's always hard! But so fun to come home!

Be strong. In the early years of my kids all being in school, I'd go to the mall and it was about all I could do to not tell every mother walking by with a stroller that I had kids, too. It takes some getting used to..... being in the world without our little ducklings....

Wishing you the best.

I can completely understand why you are dreading the trip. She is just too cute for words.
Where will you be in Texas? Hopefully Mother nature will be kind and keep this icy weather at bay.

I am just one mon said it beautifully! I can't even see the keyboard cause y'all made me cry. Hang in there girl, its hard, I know, but be thankful that she's still little. I'm facing an empty nest soon with one going off to boot camp in April. So proud, but sniff, sniff. Where in Texas are you teaching? Sounds like I need to make road trip!

UUUUUUUGHGHGHGHHHHHH! I remember how hard that is! I can almost still feel it!
There is one thing I have to tell you, though. There will be moments, brief and fleeting, when you will find that you are enjoying a little taste of freedom. Don't let the guilt spoil the pleasure!

I too am wondering where you will be in TX...I'm in the Houston area...

Your daughter is BEAUTIFUL!!! Just remember how good it is for her and your husband to be alone together. My daughters loved it when dad was in "charge"! Also....it's OK to cry! :) Have a safe and fun trip.

I find it difficult to part from my children too, thankfully it happens very rarely. Good luck.

Oh Rachel - it really will be OK - it's one of the hardest things to do at first - you will remember this for the rest of your life, but your beautiful baby girl won't. She will though, remember the love she feels from you when you get back. Try to enjoy your "free" time and let all us Texans know where you are going to be <3

seriously... love this post. I am sure we have all been there, and know exactly how you feel! You will be great, mama!

But, but....can't you take that little angel with you??? If I were in your class, I'd happily take care of her at the back of the room while you taught! ;-D

She's seriously beautiful! But it's always good to take a break and come back refreshed. It will make you an even better mother! But I can see why you would miss that sweet face!

I am a mother of ten and I had to go back to work six weeks after my Olivia was born. It is very difficutlt. Go ahead and cry but know you are doing this for your family. It shows what a great Mom you are that you are having such a hard time.

2 weeks from Saturday you will be in my city eating Mexican food and being loved on by a bunch of Texas women who will use "y'all" without apology. 2 weeks from Saturday I will sit in the audience listening to you, then I will try to be at the front of the line to meet you so I can give you a big Mama hug. 2 weeks from Saturday my "baby" will be with me to give you a hug (she's 12 but she is still my baby). 2 weeks from Saturday I will tell you to thank your husband and Lindsey. 2 weeks from Saturday it will be okay if you cry when you are teaching women about quilting in San Antonio because most of them are probably moms who will understand. 2 weeks from Saturday I will be ECSTATIC to be at a QUILT festival and MEET you!!!! We will attempt to have warm weather for you. We were in shorts on Sunday & today in our big coats (Texas style big coats may be light jackets to those up north).

Your sweet mama heart just shines through as you share this with us. Now I have tears in my eyes for you. Big hugs from San Antonio!

Two weeks from today your heart will break just a little.
Two weeks from today you will show just how courageous and strong a mamma can be.
Two weeks from today you will taste a little bit of freedom.
Two weeks from today you will step up your worry meter, because you are a phenominal mamma.
Have fun. Enjoy your time sharing your craft. You are talented and beautiful and creative and loving.

How wonderful are your comments?! I can't compete with them I was going to suggest you get all your 'students' to call you mommy and put up a photo in the class of little Lindsey!

I admire your strength. It is hard but trust in the others in your life. You are amazing and those that you teach will appreciate it. Thanks for all that you give. Hugs.

That little girl is CUTE!!! And I only reserve that sentiment for maybe 10% of babies. ;)

It'll be tough, but it'll be a blast. And coming home will be sooo exciting for everyone involved! Focus on that: when she freaks out that you've returned. :)

Wish I could hold sweet little Lindsey for you the whole time you are gone! Have fun - you'll be great!

She is so adorable.
It is hard to leave our babies, but it will be nice for you to be yourself for a little while;)

Two weeks from today you will grow as a Mommy :) Oh, and there isn't anything wrong with bringing a little something with you that reminds you of your adorable little one ;o)

This is dangerous. I am so done with having kids (I got three and I think that is a lot...) but looking at your little adorable, cheeky Lindsey makes me want more.... Just one more, maybe...Maybe not... Maybe... I got to stop looking at her or I might talk my husband into something crazy... Good luck with your tuition.

Where are you going in Texas?
Drop by and see my crazy girls ;-)

Seriously, you're going to be fine. She is going to be fine.
Enjoy a little time to yourself. It is ok to enjoy yourself!

She is so adorable....but at least you will be able to be in the bathroom by yourself :)

Every time I leave them it is hard. But so sweet when I return to my sweet girls. It never gets easier to leave your babies, you just learn how to deal with it better! Good luck I will be thinking of you!

Rachel...you can do it. And, once you're home again, you'll be very happy that you did it. I'm so proud of you.

You're coming to San Antonio!?!?!? I wanna meet you and be in your audience!
My baby girl is 22 and it breaks my heart every time she gets back on a plane to go to her "home" in NY. Treasure that little cutie pie-
All us Mommas understand. By the way, that 22 year old still calls me Momma- how great is that!

Jennifer Blosser said...

Well, [apply tissue to face to wipe away tears] ... I would try to reassure you that what you do in TX is for that cutie pie baby.

Try to have fun!

Lots of love & luck,
Jennifer
