i broke up with etsy.
it just wasn't working out.
don't get me wrong...it's me. not them.
okay it is them. and those darn fees.
with that being said...
p.s. i quilt {the shop} is now open for business.

I see more and more people making this move. I think once you're established it makes more sense. I have my own website, but am considering Etsy for more exposure, with an eventual move to Big Cartel.

Hmm..I was going to start an online shop with Etsy. D0o their fees get out of control or something--thought they were inexpensive? So how did you start this new shop? Was it free? Any info helps!

I have a shop there as well, but i've never sold a single thing. Not even an inquiry in over a year. I had one sale that cancelled and they're still trying to collect a fee on that. I left it there for exposure but all my orders come straight off my blog.

Good luck. I love etsy and order from them all the time. It's my main place to find homemade things.
I think the fees are reasonable and it's super easy to set up shop and keep it going. But that's just me. Good luck with your new spot!

Yay Rachel! Been thinkin along the same lines. Etsy fees are killing me. Add Pay Pal in there and wham! For little ol me, it's not fun. Just haven't had the guts to do it. Congrats!ooxx`jod
I keep thinking that I'm going to be an Etsy sensation, but, sadly, I've only sold one item. It's okay - at least that's what my therapist tells me.
