let me set the scene:
it's 3:38am.
everyone is asleep...well everyone but me & miss lindsey.
it's breastfeeding time. hi-5.
normally when i'm nursing in the wee hours of the morning, i'm on facebook.
{i heart my blackberry.}
i like to try to convince myself that facebook'n it will keep me awake.
well this morning things were a little different.
a fantastic quilt design decided to hit me out of no where.
yep. the most inopportune moment ever.
no paper. no pencil. no laptop.
after all there was a baby...well you know...attached to my body.
what's a girl to do?!?!
well this girl finished feeding the baby & immediately fell back asleep.
:P
i know, i know.
but in my defense, i did sketch it out after i woke up again.
honest.
so what's the moral of this story?!?!
it's that inspiration can strike at ANY time.
even at 3:38am while breastfeeding.

LOL! You need to start carrying a tablet around your neck with pencil hanging from it!
Hugs & stitches,
Jennifer
Too funny! Need to keep a sketch book in everyroom of the house from now on! Take care of that baby!!! We need more pictures! Have a great weekend Rachel! Jenn
I have had nights like that too... some great accomplishments have been made from ideas in the night! Ha! LOL! Can't wait to see the new quilt design! Enjoy that baby... even in the wee hours of the morn...
Facebook kept me from falling asleep many a night while nursing. Can't wait to see the design!
Isn't that the truth! Good for you for using your nursing time to be productive! I always just fell asleep, which I suppose was productive for me...I was considered 'of advanced maternal age' when my last two were born (40 and 42) so those late night feedings were hard on me! I would not have traded any one of them for anything in the world though...such special moments with the babies!
Can't wait to see what your inspiration was!

Rachel, that post brought back fond memories of when I used to nurse my baby daughter at 3:30/4 a.m. Only I never had creative juices flowing, only breast milk! I would put on the tube and watch Julia Child and/or Lassie! Now I'm dating myself, I know! Thanks for sharing!
thank you for reminding me of the most grace-filled time of my adult life. The rocking chair, the silence only broken by little hiccups and snorts - that dear dear baby. As if it were only yesterday instead of 29 years ago...
Oh to have had FB or even the internet in my day (tee hee ... just kidding). Love the picture in my head Rachel. But glad you still had that quilt in your head after your sleep. And yes, we need an updated pic of your wee treasure. Ciao
Can'y believe you have the energy!
I used to have a scrapbook you buy for kids to draw in and a pencil on the table beside the chair I breastfed in. My 'ideas' moments always seemed best when breastfeeding!
I remember those times in the wee hours of the morning....many, many moons ago!
Sometimes my best ideas come just as I am falling into sleep....I keep a pen and paper by the bedside.
I am with you Rachel. I am currently finishing month 6 of breastfeeding my second daughter, i made it 5 1/2 months with my first, and either inspiration hits or sleep. Sometimes it is both! If you ever need an understanding ear to listen on the breastfeeding front...I am always an email away, and I have fun stories too.....btw, do you have a Hooter Hider yet?
Kudos to you and every mother who breastfeeds. There is NOTHING better you can do for your baby. Can't wait to see the new design.
Such a true, true situation you described there!
Happy 1 month Birthday to little Lindsey!
I look forward to seeing your breast feeding inspired design.
Enjoy the moments! They go by fast. Can't wait to see the Inspired Quilt!
Oh Mary Grace I had my 2 children at the exact same age as you! So here I am 4 yrs later after my last and I swear my breast felt like they swelled with the mention of you nursing! I would also be wide awake at the oddest of times - I think it is probably a "me time" that you want to take advantag of, and hopefully you get a nap in your day! So nice for you to share that we us and of course now we all can't wait to see what you have sketched!
You made my day-made me remember those blessed days of nursing, filled with the most heartfelt moments of love.
So glad you remembered it in the morning. Now could you sound a little more sleep deprived so I could stop having baby fever?
Facebook and Twitter for the 1am feedings!
I brestfed my 'baby' for 2 years and I can tell you that it gives the BEST time for inspiration (and philosophy too)
I hope you can still find some time to rest, and inspire us too!
