you are what you eat.

sweet tarts.

okay so when i'm not preggers, i'm a chocolate freak.
{especially during "that" time of the month.}

i'm normally not a "candy" person per say.
the extent of me eating candy is horking down a bag of twizzlers at the theatre.
{and yes, i eat the whole darn bag by myself. every. single. time.}

well it's a whole different ballgame when i'm growing a baby.

i want candy.
and not just ANY candy. i want sour candy.
specifically sweet tarts. the chewy ones.

when i was prego with melanie, i wanted the giant, chewy ones.
now they have these fantastic mini chewy ones i'm addicted to.
{both pictured above.}

so yeah...
if you are what you eat, i'm a walking willy wonka sweet tart.

i know my dentist is going to read this...
don't hate on me for eating these sugary candies.
remember: it's ALL for the baby.
*wink*

p.s. chewy sweet tarts might be the devil.
just sayin'.

{{my sponsors rock!!! yall should check out the quilt shoppe.}}

Glad you are feeling better enough to blog. Hopefully your morning sickness is getting better. Your pic of the candy looks so yummy. My 3 yr. old wanted some. I said I could not get it out of the computer but she insisted that I get it out. I guess I will get her some for valentines day. Thanks for the inspiration. :)

I SWORE by SweeTarts when I was pregnant. The sour seemed to help counteract the nausea just enough. I also love the eclipse mints...the ones in the tall, skinny tin container. The dark blue ones were my fav. I even wrote Wrigley and they sent me a box of them! Glad that you're feeling enough better to be laughing about being a sweet-tart!

Emily said...

SweeTarts are my weakness, too. And chocolate, and twizzlers...

Pretty picture! Those colors would make a beautiful quilt :)

I totally love the mini chewy sweet tarts! I pick up a bag every time we go to Menards. My hubby gets lumber, I get sweet tarts.

When I was pregnant with Steiger, I wanted fruit in any form... including completely processed and unnatural and laden with sugar like this. I don't get it either.

Happy baby growing!

You are hilarious! I suppose Sweet Tarts are a bit better than chocolate-ice-cream-and-pickles!

Glad you're feeling better :)

sweet and sour candies I prefer over chocolate anytime, and it is worse when I am preggers.

For one of my kids, I craved chocolate, the other french fries. I think the fries was mostly for the salt. So I say enjoy your sweets!!

Sweet Tarts eh? Interesting! Ben and Jerry were my very best friends during my first pregnancy, but I've always loved ice cream. What really surprised me was how much I craved hot spicy food, which otherwise I do not even like! Hasn't happened since, not even during my other two pregnancies. I think we really are a different species while gestating!

Horking? Never heard the word, but I like it and I'm going to start using it!

Glad you are feeling up to making fun of yourself! That's a good sign!

Hehe I'm curious to see what I'll crave and what I can't stand when I am preggers. My mum said she didn't crave much when she was pregnant with my sisters and I, but couldn't stand the smell of coffee. We come from a family of big coffee drinkers, so that'll be interesting...

The green apple ones are my favorite, 'nuff said! Oh, and whatever you do, don't try hint of lime tostitos...
Blessings,

i also obsess over sweet tarts during my pregnancies (which happens to be now). have you tried the chewy, sort of laffy taffy-likem sweet tarts? the best.

My preggo downfall was always chocolate chip cookies and strawberries!!!

Hope you are feeling better.

I am SO with you on the sour! I have Mike & Ike Zours, not quite the same. Might have to get some sweettarts. Other than that, the flavored carbonated water- grapfruit or lime flavor, and apples and oranges are my staples.

If I am what I eat, I am sweet and chocolatey. I think I could go without food indefinatley if I had a pan of brownies and some cold milk.

When I was pregnant, I craved mexican food and bacon. No wonder I gained so much weight, lol. It was ALL for the baby. ;)

oooh I can eat a whole bag of twizzlers too! Though seeing as I don't get to have them unless someone brings them over from Canada..I'm much better at making them last.

I ate a lot of pickles and olives with my eldest..but couldn't stomach chicken for either pregnancy...funny how that works!

both my pregnancies I have had sugar cravings. My oldest it was Tropical Snow snowcones, and my second was cotton candy. any ideas how hard those are to find in montana durring the fall/early spring? both are girls =)

Shellie said...

girls I crave fruit and salads. boy I craved meat, brownies, and more meat.... but the gas was horridous.
I hope you get better to sew soon. It seems as though you truly needed the break though.

My cravings were for orange freezes, ice cream and orange soda. I guess you'd call that sweet and sour. Glad to hear you're alright.

I can remember downing an entire large bag of m&m's while preggers with #2. And once, under extreme stress, eating chocolate chips straight from the Costoc-size bag. What we do for comfort!

Have you tried the Sweet & Sour Twizzlers?????...They might just do the trick!....At least you can say that "the baby wants it!"

Hope you feel better soon...:0)

LOL! I was a sour candy freak when I was pregnant too! Sweet Tarts, Sour Patch Kids, but my LOVE was Sour Gummy Worms. I swear I ate a bag a day for about 2 weeks...

I am pregnant and going through the same thing. Chocolate doesn't do it for me. In fact, I feel sick if I eat it. But any chewy fruit types of candy, particularly jelly belly jelly beans... I can eat the entire bag! Sweet tarts have always been a weakness for me and the thought of mini chewy ones, I'm going to be on the look out now!
Cheers to pregnancy. *raises bag of red vines up*

Hmmmm, I love dark chocolate AND I really like chewy sweet tarts. So I am thinking if I could get chocolate covered chewy sweet tarts, I just might be in heaven. (or would that be throwing my lot in with the devil?)

Hi from New Zealand
Chris said...
my sympathy with the morning sickness, not with my first child who is nearly 19 but with the second now 15,who turned out to be a boy...couldn't keep anything down for 5 months..we have these lovely biscuits here called gingernuts...It's a KIWI thing..ginger flavoured of course, plain, no icing but they sure kept my stomach calm....
Lollies not a problem, but everyday things like a cup of tea and eating an apple and even brushing my teeth, had to find alternative toothpaste as well,couldn't stand them til after he was born...got through it all ok...makes one marvel at the human body and its foibles...
just put your feet up and take aload off.....KIWI speak...

take care Chris....New Zealand

Ginger is a great tummy soother. I keep crystallized ginger around, and chew on that when mine's upset.
Had morning sickness with all 3 girls, didn't know anything about ginger then, but a friend told me to eat a plain baked potato, and that was soothing. How could it not be??

Those chewy sweet tarts are super good! I always steal them from my children on Halloween.

I get this completely! When I'm not pregnant I'm a choco-holic. But when I'm growing a baby, all I want is fruity candy (see also: starburst and skittles)!

Laurel H. said...

LOL! I love the big chewy ones, too!

I've heard you are what you eat, so I must be fast, easy and cheap. (McDonald's drive thru)

Unbelievable.I had that same craving 24 years ago when preg with my firstborn. I had packets of Sweet Tarts everywhere - every coat pocket, every room... I was sick as well and that was the only thing I could keep down - that and radishes ( by the huge bagful ). One time the grocery store ran out and my hub offered to go to restaurant kitchens for more radishes. What a sweety. Yep. we are still together and just as much in love!
