bordeaux - modern
i give y'all bordeaux.
clean, simple and timeless.
i love designs like this, don't y'all?!?!

i designed bordeaux for the lovely peeps over at fat quarter shop.
{as part of their it's sew emma pattern line.}

when i originally designed bordeaux, i envisioned it like you see above.
bright, fun and with a modern feel.
BUT when the sample was made for the pattern, we went with a more traditional colorway.
to see it and read more about it, hop on over to the jolly jabber.
{psst: there's a giveaway!!!}

y'all come back over here and tell me which colorway strikes your fancy the most.
the modern?!?! or the traditional?!?!
inquiring minds want to know.

I always gravitate to the bright colors, but that is what I love about quilting - that the same pattern can be done in 1,000 different ways, with 1,000 different feels to the quilt!

I am on a seriouse traditional bender lately but the modern version is certainly georgouse so I would probably go toward the middle as in colorful but not totally modern ....is that totally indecisive :)???????

I usually go with the traditional fabric in my quilts lately, but I LOVE the modern fabric look with this pattern.

Just as I like a room filled with light from many windows...so I like a quilt with bright colors. The traditional is pretty, yes, but just dull. I like modern and excitingly bright! Love your quilt.

I would probably go modern in a light hearted way. Might add in some vintage. It always makes a quilt so much more interesting to mix it up! Great pattern Rachel!

Modern, all the way!

The modern is definitely my preference. It's a beautiful pattern! Thanks for the awesome opportunity to win one. :)

Hi, I like both of the quilts but the traditional one just has the edge for me.

I like the modern. The pattern itself seems 'traditional' so I like the twist of using modern fabrics.

Ok, I thought that of course I'd love the modern look because that's what I tend to gravitate toward. Not today. The traditional is so warm and . . . well, traditional, that I just want to wrap up in it.

Modern. No question. I've always wondered just how dirty brown quilts can get before they show the dirt :(

Definitely the modern version. So crisp, so clean, so YOU!

I really get into mod quilts, that being said, I am gravitating toward your traditional colors this time, would look nice draped over the arm of the couch, which is chocolate brown!!

I think your pattern looks great either way, but I would pick the traditional if forced to choose. What fabrics is the sample made from?

I really prefer the modern version, but I do like the traditional as well.

I am dying to do a red and white/cream quilt. So I would have to go with Traditional!

They both are nice but I think I like the bright colors on your modern one. I usually go for the traditional but for some reason my tastes are changing as I'm getting older.

I love the colors and happy spirit in the modern one. It's lovely!

Definitely the modern! Lovely pattern.

I prefer the modern.

I like the pattern and could see many possibilities for both fabric focus. However, I chose "Double Chocolat" for the fabric to make a traditional quilt.

Thanks, Rachel.

They are both beautiful, but I like the traditional the best.

I am having a hard time deciding... I usually go towards the traditional (and I think the Jolly Jabber one would be a great old time looking Christmas quilt... ) but the modern is so fresh looking... I can't decide... I want BOTH!

I prefer the modern one... thanks for the chance to win!

My favorite is the modern color away. Lately I have been intrigued my modern fabrics and quilts. Love the Aqua and Red together.

CJ said...

Between the two I prefer your modern version, which fabric line are you using there?

Unknown said...

Love both of them. I could see the modern one in the guest room and my DH would approve of the traditional on our king size bed.

Sharon said...

Your work is always so amazing. I love following your blog. I like the traditional one best. Thanks!

I like the gray, red and aqua one better than the other one.
