my summer bag.

19 June 2012

my summer bag.

remember how i said i was gonna make me a new bag?!?!
well i did just that.

meet my summer bag.
and of course i've already pulled fabrics for my fall bag.
i know it's sick, but what can i say?!?! i'm a fall girl.
:)

oh and i feel like i'm growing up.
this bag made me tackle darts AND curved piecing.
it's not perfect, but i owned it.

so does anyone else make bags for the current season?!?!
i'm curious.

my summer bag.

and because i know one of y'all will ask . . .
pattern = 241 tote by noodlehead
yellow fabric = pearl bracelet in yellow by lizzy house
striped fabric = washi tape in beige by rashida coleman-hale
solid = kona cotton in eggshell
please note: anna's pattern does not have a pieced handle, i did that on my own :)

Love this. And I can so relate... I love making bags and am always looking for a good pattern. How was this one to make? It sure is purty!

Rachel, I LOVE your summer bag!!! That washi tape fabric is really a fun one! Well done tackling techniques you've not done before! I don't make bags. I used to many many moons ago, but they were never really my favorite type of bag, so... But I love seeing bags made by others who do love to use them.

I love it!! I bought my first bag pattern just yesterday. Amy Butler's Birdie Sling (I think). I've never made my own bag before but my purse has seen better days, I'm tired of it, and can't find anything else that I like. I love the fabrics you chose! So pretty.

I love your fabric choices...the colors are so perfect together and so summer. The pieced handle is a stroke of brilliance; I have to try that some time. Yes, I just made my own summer bag and will probably be making a fall one too in a few months.

I'm loving this bag, but no I don't make bags. Attempting to make a tote pretty soon though. I am totally a Fall person too.. I hate summer.

The only bag I ever made was a big, huge thing to lug all her bingo supplies up to the senior clubhouse. She absolutely loves it...partly because of the fact that it's baby blue, her favorite color, and then because it carries everything.
My everyday bag is pink..my wallet is pink..my cellphone cover is pink...doesn't ever change unless I find a new color of pink to enjoy!
Take care of yourself...Toni

Love your bag! Great idea to make a different one for the seasons! I recently made a cross body sling (found the tutorial online) to pack around Disney and Legoland while on vacation in a few days!

Your bag looks great! I have had this pattern and the fabric to make it for a while. I need to get to it! I love the Washi tape fabric.

Love it!! I have some of Rashida Coleman Hale's Washi fabric, but haven't decided what to do with it yet.

I love it. I am still a little intimidated about sewing up a purse.

I wanted to compliment you on your bag and color choices. I love this pattern style. Still have to get it for myself. I have seen it all over blog land but very few I stop to say: I like your bag! In your case, I like your bag! Love to see what your fall bag looks like.

Love your bag Rachel :D
Nope, I don't make bags....after seeing yours I may though. My currant bag is from REI, one of their eco bags with oodles of compartments & oh-so-good hidey-hole places for storage.

okay...another site to add to my list of must reads! Thanks for feeding my addiction! I like Amy Butler's Gypsy Caravan but pretty much anything Amy Butler does I think is gorgeous. Thanks for the chance to win!
