A day in Central Park (or at Central Perk!)-- with a Central Park quilt and a basket of goodies to munch on while reading the day away. Aside from the feet of snow in the park right now, it sounds lovely.

Well, it's summer somewhere, so a picnic on a beautiful day in a field with birds chirping, a quilt to lay on, a good book to read, and peace and quiet - hmm, except for the candle, where would that fit in?!?

:) beautiful pattern from what I can see---do we get to see the whole quilt?

jlk said...

A picnic in Central Park.

Honey Bunny Quilter said...

They are all woven things. That if not together would just be pieces and not a whole. The fabric is woven fibers made into a quilt, the basket is woven pieces of wood, and the books are stores that are woven together without all of them you would just have pieces of the story not all of it.

Yes, they too are some of my favorite things that that provide a purpose and function once put together to make a whole.

Sarah said...

Hmmm, that looks like a lovely little getaway to me!! Packing some goodies into that basket and heading off for some peace and quiet to read a good book. =)

Or a giveaway. You know, either way. ;-)

Julee said...

Are you going to a quilting retreat?

Kimberly said...

Maybe some down time for you. I love Nicholas Sparks books.

Jennifer said...

i'm certain it means the saddest picnic ever.

first you'll lay out the blanket and eat some snacks, maybe have some wine. then, you'll read the notebook. you'll be so disappointed and saddened by the story that you'll use the candle to set the book on fire.

at least, that's what i'd do.
(that story is so devastating, i can't stand it. i almost start sobbing just thinking about it.)

Denise said...

I would say picnic, but that is a pretty large stack of books for a typical picnic...and why the candle?

AHH! I've got it. Your husband is having a Super Bowl party with his friends and you are going on a picnic so you miss it. You'll spread out your quilt. You have food stashed in the basket. You have the stack of books to take up the time, and you have the candle so you can read just past dusk before heading home.

Sharon said...

If the longaberger basket is filled with hot cocoa you have the perfect group of things for a winter snow storm- oh the candle too in case my power goes out! I'm in WI and we are supposed to get 20" in the next couple of days! Love the quilt in the background by the way!

Marcia W. said...

The electricity was off. The quilt was to keep you and the kids warm. The basket was to hold the books. And, the candle was to give light so you could read the books to the kids. TaDa - Mom reading stories is one way to keep the kids entertained when there is no electricity.

All very creative and made by loving hands! The candle is the SPARK of imagination that WEAVES (of the longaberger basket) the stories of the Nicholas SPARKS books. The common THREAD connects the lovely QUILT that WEAVES family talent and treasured memories together. The QUILT holds wonderful memories, the BASKET holds the QUILT, the BOOKS, and the CANDLE. My guess (hope) is that these items are relate to your next tutorial. The basket is woven. The quilt blocks alternate directions. The strips in the quilt blocks could be candlesticks. The color of the books is also in the quilt but maybe the books are there to represent the themes that Nicholas Sparks incorporates in his books - love, relationships, and commitment.
