pinwheel sampler quilt along: block five.

20 March 2010

pinwheel sampler quilt along.

yayyy!!!
here are the instructions for block five!!!

004

yall will need:
four 3 7/8" x 3 7/8" squares of focal print fabric {mine=pink/floral}
four 3 7/8" x 3 7/8" squares of blender print fabric {mine=cream/pink floral}
two 3 7/8" x 3 7/8" squares of secondary print fabric {mine=pink dot}
six 3 7/8" x 3 7/8" squares of solid fabric {mine=cream}

023

using my hst tutorial, use your 3 7/8" squares to make 16 hst blocks.

note: 4 print squares will be used to make 2 hst blocks.
{see block layout before constructing hst blocks.}

027

this is our block layout.
you likey??? me likey.

037

sew row one together, pressing seams to the right.
sew row two together, pressing seams to the left.
sew row three together, pressing seams to the right.
sew row four together, pressing seams to the left.
{this will ensure perfect seams.}

pinwheel sampler quilt along: block five.

sew all four rows together to construct your block.
yum.

pinwheel sampler quilt along: block five.

now make one more block in a completely different color scale.

so that's 10 blocks down. 6 to go.
have yall laid all your blocks together yet???

i can't wait to start seeing all of yall's blocks show up in our flickr pool.

{pdf version of this tutorial can be found here.}

LOL! I wish, for me, it was as simple as pressing to the right and then to the left, in order to ensure perfect seams! :)

Rachel,
just want to say BIG thanks for your pinwheel tutorials especially how to sew triangles in simple way. I've used it for my bee group this month and it turned out great!
