{happy birthday rachel.} i've known for a whole year that this year i would be 27.
yeah...well that still didn't hit home.
it was a statement from the hubby that did it.
he says to me...
"i'm SO glad your 27!!!"
and then it hit me.
i'm 27!!!
me. rachel. today.
yikes.
so here i am...3 years from the big three-oh.
actually i'm kinda freaking out about it.
now it's okay {gulp} for people to refer to me as being in my LATE twenties???
ouch.
i woke up to my toddlers singing happy birthday to me.
and then the hubby kissed me & said...
"just think, in 3 years, i get to buy you a scooter!!!"

rachel's boyfriend, tag, bought rachel a scooter for her 30th bday!!!
so yeah...let the countdown to the scooter begin.
today's plans:
bff is coming over to help decorate for fall.
inlaws coming over & bringing dinner.
and tonight i have a date with legends of the fall.

And your friend is lucky to get her scooter at 30! BSP (Beloved Spouse) gave me one last year for my 45th. I had to wait 15 years longer! :)

I just wish all my friends who are twenty-something would stop freaking out about their birthdays. It's making it very hard for me to stay calm about my 30th birthday coming up in less than 2 months. Yikes! I'm trying very hard to stay calm, but it's hard when you all keep complaining about 27 or 28.

My 30th was my worst year ever. Hated it. I was sure when I woke up on my 30th birthday my whole body from the face down to my knees had slid south a little. You know what I mean? But actually, once I'd gotten over the fact that I should be a grown up and not act like such a cry baby I started to feel better about it. But don't mention 40 to me. I'm 6 years away, and I intend to keep it that way. In fact, I'm going to start counting backwards from next year.

My husband and I have a 19 yr old, a 6 yr old and a 4 yr old...the college student is making us old before our time, but the little ones are keeping us young! It's a wonderful balance! I freaked at 25, knowing I was going downhill after that, but 30 wasn't as bad for me. Now I have children over 30!!! and the time really zoomed by. Enjoy each minute and look at it as the BEST time in your life.
I am turning the big six 0 in a few months, and know the panicky feeling. There I said it. maybe by saying it, I will get used to it before I reach it?
That has always seemed SO OLD! But I don't feel old. I'm still a kid at heart with a million plans, and a HUGE fabric stash that has to be made into quilts. :D
::sigh:: I guess birthdays are better than the alternative. ::grin::

And no, you are not in your late twenties, 27 is still mid-twenties. You can also see it from another direction: You are turning 25 for the third time and three is so little, right? So you are actually just turning 25 :)
(I will turn 25 for the second time in two months and I already freaked out on my last birthday).
And if that doesn't help, 27 is a very lovely number, it is 3x3x3 :)

happy, happy birthday rachel! some of my favorites times were my late 20s/early 30s! plus, 30 isn't old if you're a tree! okay, not sure how that ties in, but you really need not be afraid of reaching your 30s. i do recommend staying in shape cuz it's harder when you reach your 40s (i know this for a fact, now, ahem...you youngster, you!)

hopefully you'll use these next 3 years to prepare yourself for GETTING OVER IT! I'm 35 and I think that this is the best stage of my life thus far!
Don't get me wrong I certainly had a great time in my 20's while in college and early years of marriage... but I wouldn't go back for anything.
I look at women who are in their 40's and think, wow, I hope I can be like them when I'm at that season of life... and same for 50's and 60's and so on...
so happy belated 27th Birthday, and stop making 30 a bigger deal than it is. Life is short so enjoy the ride! After all it's not even certain you'll live to be 30.
