merry giftmas :)

19 December 2011

merry giftmas.

i don't know about yall, but i'm busy working on handmade christmas gifts.

my current project is making a gozillion homemade heating pads.
vanessa has a simple tutorial, if you're looking for one.

they make the perfect gift for teachers, hubby's coworker's wives or even the bachelor best friend who has been known to take over the one that you made for yourself.

i'd love to know what yall are crafting for christmas gifts this year.
please leave a link of what you're gifting or working on.
either a link showing the finished product or the pattern/tutorial that you are using.

i can't wait to sit down with a nice cup of hot chocolate and read through yall's giftmas list.
and maybe i'll even pick a winner or two :)

*note: it may take a few minutes for your link to appear. this is normal.*

I had to finish all my stuff early, because I had surgery in mid-December, but thanks for a place to show it off! I'd love to be sewing now, but Doc says no way!! So I'll just have to enjoy everyone else's projects vicariously.....

I am finishing baby quilts for my daughters (now ages 9 and 6, both started back when they were babies). They know I have been working on them and are very excited. They have seen squares but nothing sewn together. Once they are in bed I start up the machine and they call out, "what are you working on?!" and I reply "none of your beeswax!" so they know not to come in the kitchen to peek. No pictures yet.

I'm frantically trying to finish a "4 seasons" quilt for my sister. Here's a shot of it in process:

I have all the Spring leaves sewn on, and Summer and Fall are pinned on. I still need to do the binding too. I think this will be a UFO at Christmas :(

I have been sewing like crazy making these for bus-drivers, teachers and everyone else. And then I sell them so other people can give them to their "everyone else".

I made about a gazillion zipper bags (some with pockets, some without, some big, some little, some with fabric zipper pulls and some with glass-beaded zipper pulls). They became gifts for friends and for the granddaughter's teacher, the hairdresser, etc. Lots of fun and now I want to make a few for myself. (They make it very easy to switch purses if I keep all my essential stuff in one of them!)

I am sorry I can't link anything up today! I am not MAKING gifts this year. I am living with my parents (and brought my two girls with me...so 5 in teh house and sometimes 6 when my brothers not in school) and they are remodeling their master suite (so one bathroom for us all and the living room is their closet) so no space to craft, but SANTA is giving me two jelly rolls and some yardage to make quilts for the girls new bunk bed (when we move out again!)

I've made lots of Christmas stockings this year. Ours are now lined up on the fire surround, waiting Christmas morning.
I'm also trying to finish a quilt for my daughter made with Sweetwater fabric and pattern.
Looking forward to seeing what everyone else has crafted. You are all so clever! Thanks for posting this craft linky Rachel!

I wanna make some bags, like to hold make up or power cords, or just stuff that gets lost in a larger bag. I have yet to get started, though. thank goodness I won't see the receivers until AFTER christmas :)

I've made a wall hanging for my stepdad, a quilt for my mom, and 10 warm compresses in various sizes...none as pretty as the one in the tutorial you posted however.

I posted a link to our Blog to showcase a few of my most recent projects. But I have to say my biggest project within the last 3 months is growing baby #3 ... oh wait, that doesn't really count I guess.

I am suppose to be working on some christmas wall hanings for my daughters.... they already have been clued they will probably be gifted works in progress. I'm using an old old Sandy Gervais pattern called "the perfect tree". A mix of applique and embroidery.... They will be delicious when they are finished! HAPPY STITCHING!

I'm trying to get quilts done for all of my nieces and nephews (only three so far- whew!). I posted a link to the zig-zag quilt I'm making for my niece- I started all the way back in May or something crazy, and I'm just now getting the binding on! Just one more after that to quilt and bind, and they will all have something snuggly and bright for Christmas!

#50 - those are on my list for tonight and tomorrow - of course after I get this last quilt sandwiched and quilted (no binding, doing it turned instead) for my boss! URGH The quilt must be done by Thursday since I'm off Friday, but that gives me all of Friday to do the 5 mug rugs I need to get done!
