falling for fall.

31 August 2011

falling for fall.

it happens every year.

i fall madly in love with fall.
i just can't help it.
i'm a fall/winter girl.

so i have this rule.
a rule that i can't decorate for fall until september 1st.
mainly because i get the itch in early august.
of course i know it's like lava outside but my brain insists that "if i decorate it, fall will come."

some years i do really good.
and some years not so much.

this year is that year.

i totally caved.
i went ahead and decorated for fall.
and you know what?!?!
i'm not the least bit sorry.

anyone else have this problem???

pic above = my fall fabric wreath.

Hi! I was reading a quilt magazine today and you were in it! It was great and loved you project !

Fall is my favorite too and I think it gets shortchanged because everyone decorates for Christmas as soon as the Thanksgiving turkey has been taken off of the table. Fall doesn't end till Dec 20th or so!!! Yes, indeedy, we should start decorating for fall NOW!
I think I will get some MUMS when I go to town today.

I'm so happy to read that there are more people who love the fall and winter! I think summer time is highley overrated..LOL
Fall is all about decorating, knitting, hot chocolate, blankets on the couch, the smell of the cold in the air, and enjoying the last warm sunshine...I guess you know what I'm talking about ;-)

Very pretty fabrics :) Yes I am a fall girl. I love those deep earthy colors along with cool weather. My decorations are waiting until we get through the 90 degree weather we're supposed to have this weekend! UGH.

Oh, totally have that problem. I'm at least two months early for every season and holiday. It's a curse, I tell you!

Oh, I SO understand... we painted in July and I have been itching to decorate for fall every since... even I recognized that it's far too early... but now I know I'm in good company... lovely wreath...

I love fall. I love how you can decorate for the season and leave it up thru November!

But I'm not decorating yet. It's still just too darn hot!

But I'm playing with fall fabrics!

Oh Yes, me too. I have restrained myself barely. But I am sure that I will be decorating this weekend. I look outside and see the shadows and I think it must be Fall, Football starts this week. Then I go outside and it is so-o hot still. Just looked at the weather forecast and saw some 80s days this weekend so hopefully that is only the beginning and not a teaser.
Went to the Maxx yesterday and they had all this Fall decor out.
Happy Fall

I love fall, but Christmas is my downfall. I can't wait to start decorating for Christmas! I used to start in July but I've learned to restrain myself somewhat.

I love your wreath!!! I've been wanting to decorate for fall and was thinking of making a wreath, but couldn't decide how to make it. Problem solved!!! You're tutorial is perfect =D

p.s. I just love the way fall "smells". I'm ready for summer to be over :)

now, i'm even more depressed! i'm not a "fall person". nor a winter person, for that matter (even though i live in michigan). we're not even finished with summer! but, it's becoming darker earlier, and it's shadowy when i awaken in the mornings. (sigh) please, PLEASE let me have whatever is left of summer? please?

OOOH me too! I was doing good until I went into Hobby Lobby and all the fall florals were sooooo gorgeous! I decorated my living room yesterday- the kidlets and I found some pretty leaves on tuesday that were falling from the trees already! Of course it helps that our weather has been cool (until last night)
I do love summer and enjoy decorating for it but Autumn is my absolute favorite!!

I'm doing Fall decor, today. It'll be 98 degrees outside but Autumn inside for the next 3 months.

I love fall/winter, too. It's still hot here in the QC. I go for Sandy Gervais anyway, so I love the wreath!! I bet the rest of the decorating is just as lovely!

I am totally in your boat. I just couldn't wait another day and i tried with all my heart to NOT decorate until Sept. 1st but I failed terribly and decorated 2 days ago and I am soooo glad I did. My little guys (ages 3 and 4) are total pumpkin lovers and we did all fall leaves and pumpkins in every room. I have my fall smells going in all my candle burners too. LOVE IT!!!!

Spring and summer are my favorite times. I don't.decorate much except maybe a tablecloth. I will decorate around Christmas. Just not into it any more. Glad you are. Post some pics.
Since I don't have a blog I can only post anonymous. JUDY

Fall and winter all the way! When you get too cold you put on more layers but when you get too hot you can only take off so much... I'm with you on the decorating too. I've been trying to put it off but came across some Halloween photos and stuck a couple on the fridge the other day. YAY FOR FALL!!!

Someone on Etsy had a scrap pack of fabric to make a quilt wreath. It was really reasonable. Wish I could remember the store name.

Thanks for giving me a project for Grand Finale. I LOVE the collection but felt weird about such a short season quilt. Love it.

Same here with me. As much as I love spring and summer when it comes to autumn I just freak out. I start decorating the whole house - apples, pumpkins, leaves, acorns, conkers, wreaths - just everything. Those are very happy moments!
