escapade loves poseidon.

so it's wisdom teeth extraction day!!!
this is me saying yayyy in the most sarcastic way EVER.

i have to be there in less than an hour.
and i'm wayyyyyyyyy anxious.

obviously y'all aren't gonna hear from me for a few days.
but in my absence, look at this pretty picture that has absolutely nothing to do with what i'm posting.
:)

see y'all real soon.

UPDATE as of 9:45am: i was sent home. without having the surgery. apparently my iron level is too low to safely perform the procedure. *sigh*

We'll be sending positive thoughts your way Rachel!

Good Luck :) You could always ask the dentist to slip you a little of that laughing gas, that stuff is good :)

peace and calmness and very little pain is what I pray for you, Rachel. I myself have not had the "pleasure" thus far.

Good luck today! And remember to take your pain meds when scheduled :-)

Good grief! Isn't this the second time! Maybe God is trying to tell you not to get 'em removed. ;)

Double bummer - anemia and a delay.
Try to enjoy your weekend.

Wow, that's a bummer! Get all psyched up for it and then can't do it today! Ugh! Load up on spinach and raisins before next time and hopefully you'll be able to have it done.

As I recall, once the Valium IV starts, you won't remember anything anyway. That's a half hour of my life I have no recollection of!

I volunteered to donate blood this week but was denied for low iron... is it contagious? Kidding. It totally sucks that you can't have your procedure... I had my wisdom teeth pulled 15 years ago! How has it been so long? I didn't think it was that bad, they gave me the gas and possibly an IV and I was out cold... I don't remember the ride home or going to my room. I woke up hours later only slightly swollen. Best wishes on the reschedule!

When I had mine removed, my regular Dentist, Bill, asked me if it would be ok if he had one of his newest dentists do my surgery while he looked on. Knowing he would still be there I agreed... In walked a young man who didn't look a day over 19!

During surgery, one of my teeth cracked and broke into several pieces. This did not surprise me as Bill had told me it was fragile and it might break.

The young doctor, however was not apparently warned about the fragile tooth. When it broke, he mumbled, "Oh, Crap!" To which Bill immediately said, "Let's not say 'Oh Crap' while we are working on a patient..." I couldn't help myself and I started laughing. I think the kid thought he was going to lose his first professional job in his first week!

Moral of the story... Don't let the new guy do your teeth!

Now, go eat some kale and get that iron level up...

Oh good... so you can continue to dread the impending doom that is tooth extraction! Sorry for the delay. It would have been nice to have it done and behind you.

Hang in there...the anticipation of it being 'bad' can take over. I had mine out, and between the valium, novocaine, and laughing gas, I was so relaxed, and happy, that I told the oral surgeon he could have taken ALL the teeth out, and I wouldn't have cared!

(hard to imagine, huh?)

anyway, that was 20 years ago, and I'm sure things are even better now. Build up your iron w/ vitamins, and Kale, and all good things, and when you've had the teeth out, make sure you have lots of pampering, and happy movies to watch. give yourself permission to 'veg', and jammies, comfy quilts, and arty treats. YOu'll come thru w/ flying colors.

i *waz gonna* post this before, but forgot ... now, a second chance: when i have *major* dental work done, like tooth pulling, root canal, my dentist give me pills to alleviate my terrible *dentist anxiety*: 5mg diazepam (valium) to be taken 1 the night before and 1 the day of the procedure ... however, i did not take the evening dose, just the morning one -- first time i actually *enjoyed* the dentist ... i'm not pushing drugs, but this worked for me ... no laughing gas (hate that stuff), nothing else but what is given to numb the area(s) ... do it, ask him/her and ya'll feel much better ...

hope this helped .... darlene

That's a shame. Do get some arnica tablets for enxt time to speed up the healing.

I also have valium pills to take before having anything more than a quick check-up at the dentist. They work :) I just take 10mg an hour before the appointment. If you are having your wisdom teeth out under a general anesthetic then you could ask for a pre-med to get rid of any anxiety.

Think of it as a great excuse to eats lots of ice cream and milk shakes in the middle of summer. I had mine done years ago and then the hubby took me to get a frosty at Wendy's. The drive up guy asked him if I was alright. Guess I looked/acted pretty high. haha. Seriously, I don't remember a thing and it wasn't bad at all. Wish you the best.

I think we worry more before the event. Then when it happens happily we are drugged or put out during the procedure. And after you are given more happy pills.

I went in to have teeth removed and the doctor said how deep do you want to be. I replied so much that I think I am on vacation in stead of here. He laughed.
Funny thing was they ask you questions to see how drugged you are, I replied that I was getting off the plane and about to be on vacation, and smiled. He said that was a first.

Hang in there, this too shall pass.

To bad you had the build up and then have to wait! I had all mine done at once (all 4 were impacted) and really it was not that bad. (I mean if you can give birth! LOL)

I saw your fabric over in the Fat Quarter Gang. I love the orange and pink squares. :)

I don't know if you've had it done yet, but it's not too bad, honestly. Hope it goes ok!
