smooth sailing.

smooth sailing.

look at miss fancy pants pinwheel sampler hanging out over at connecting threads.

smooth sailing.

here's a closer look.

now y'all know i'm not a red, white & blue fan, but i love this version.
i think it's because it doesn't scream americana.
and i really like the grey and how the quilt has a modern feel to it.

it's always exciting to see someone else's version of something you designed. <--which is why i love it when y'all email me pics or post pics in the ps i quilt: sew & tell flickr group.
:)

for those that are interested, smooth sailing pinwheel sampler kits are available HERE.
{pssst: the price is amazing!!!}

so what do y'all think of this version of pinwheel sampler?!?!
inquiring minds want to know.
*wink, wink*

note: although i'd like to, i can't take credit for the photography.
these pics were taken from the connecting threads website.

Just love it and what a great quilt. You're right it does not scream americana all over it. I like how they used the aqua and grey in it.

It looks great. I'm not usually a fan of red, white and blue quilts either but that pop of turquois really makes this one more modern and fun. Love the pattern---it is on my to-do list. :D

I love this quilt {but you know that}... so I'm thinking... You make me a pinwheel sampler... and I'll make you a Martinique dot party. How does that sound? ;-)

I love this version; it just feels like summer.

For me it's the grey and white stripe and dot fabrics that make it - they calm and tone everything down. It's beautiful and a great quilt pattern too :)

Your pinwheel pattern's always been a favorite of mine! I think the fact that the prints are all small-scale prints, almost solids, also helps it feel more modern.

This looks great! I love the nautical fabric for this fun pattern.
I also think RW&B can sometimes look campy - not here!

Not really a blue gal! And to tell you the truth I have more blue in my stash than any thing else! GGRRR!! LOL I have looked at this sampler to make for my daughter with shades of yellow and orange!! (SHE LOVES YELLOW)
hhmmm I did Impromptu... So, I think I might just... yup begin work on another Rach project!! (oh, sorry hope you don't mine the Rach! LOL)

I think it is really cute! And the use of the aqua blue really takes it away from the Independence Day vibe it could have had (which would have been nice, if that was the goal) and points it toward the contemporary quilting direction.

I got the feeling from pictures of Quilt Market that sailing themes are coming on strong. Way to be ahead of the crowd!

I really like the pinwheel sampler and it's definitely on my list of things to do. I also like the subtlety of the shades of red, white, and blue in the quilt that Connecting Threads did. It feels cool and calm.
