memorial day.

27 May 2013

pinwheel sampler.
happy memorial day, y'all.

i'm so thankful for all that have served (or will serve) in our nation's armed forces.
we owe them so much more than a day of cookouts.
but it's a start, right?

i hope that today brings you & your family some great memories.

don't forget to hug a vet.
and maybe give them some dessert, too.
;)

for those inquiring minds:
the quilt above is my pinwheel sampler.
(you can read more about it HERE.)

Craftsy
ps. y'all can join craftsy in honoring the brave men and women who have served in the US armed forces.
for every class sold this weekend, craftsy will donate a portion of the proceeds to benefit a veterans' organization.
select classes will be on sale up to 60% off!!!
just thought y'all would want to know in case there's one you've been eyeing.
(offer ends at midnight tonight.)

impromptu along.

24 May 2013

impromptu.
if y'all are looking for a fun summer quilt along, my friend, katy is hosting one using my impromptu pattern!!!
(click HERE to see the announcement post.)

impromptu.
impromptu is a pretty simple quilt to piece, but it's big.
like 90 1/2" x 90 1/2" big.
and sometimes when you're piecing a quilt that big, you need some extra motivation.
insert the impromptu along.

so, if you already have your impromptu pattern and fabrics, yayyy.
if not, there's still plenty of time.
we start on june 1st.

the impromptu pattern can be purchased HERE. (both paper & pdf versions are available.)
and the fat quarter shop has a great selection of layer cakes to choose from.
note: you can use your stash if you want, just make sure you are starting with 10" squares.

impromptu.
if you're joining us, show off your fabric choice and quilts via #impromptualong hashtag on instagram &/or the impromptu quilt along flickr group.

i can't wait to see y'all make your own impromptu quilts.
to this day, it's still one of my favorite quilts.

so, are you joining us?!?!
say yes.
;)

craftsy
have y'all ever heard of craftsy?
if yes, aren't they dreamy?
if not, sit back and let me tell you a bit about them.

craftsy is an online community for all crafters.
for people that love everything from quilting to cake decorating.

they offer a wide selection of classes from all sorts of peeps across the world.
people like vanessa christenson, camille roskelley & elizabeth hartman.
just to name a few.

my favorite thing about craftsy, is that you can watch your classes from anywhere, from any device with an internet connection.
you can take them anytime you want, as many times as you want.
and your access never, ever expires.

pre cut piecing made simple
after receiving my free voucher at fall market, i couldn't decide which quilting class to take.
it took me forever to make up my mind.
but i finally chose camille's precut piecing made simple class.
it was such fun to have camille in my house.
she didn't even care about the dirty dishes in the sink. ;)
(hi, camille. xoxo)

since then, i've taken a few other classes as well.
i really like being able to take the classes at my leisure.
let's face it, miss lindsey takes most of my attention during the day.
so, when i have a few extra minutes after bedtime, it's nice to settle in with a lesson or two.

precision piecing
the good folks over at craftsy, want to give a lucky ps i quilt reader a precision piecing class.
you'll learn how to step up your piecing skills and tackle more complex patchwork.
this class is taught by norah mcmeeking.

to enter : click HERE to sign up for craftsy. (it's free!!!)
don't worry, if you already have a craftsy account, just follow this link and sign in.
one entry per person.
please note: you have to follow the link in order to enter the giveaway.

also, come back and tell me which craftsy class you really, really want to take.
i think my next class will be angela walters' free motion quilting with feathers.
i could use a good feather lesson.

winner will be announced saturday.

quilts made with love.

10 May 2013

*deep breath*
i, rachel griffith, wrote a book.
a book that i am both proud of and in disbelief about.

quilts made with love.
i give y'all, quilts made with love.
not to brag, but isn't that a dreamy book cover?
me thinks yes.

i'm proud to say that my book is published by martingale & company.
they've been a dream to work with.
i met with their staff in fall of 2011 and they've held my hand every single step of the way.

quilts made with love will be released this fall.
september to be exact.
(happy birthday to me!!!)

about the book ...
when an occasion arises, quilters should have a go to book to utilize.
my inspiration came from the all occasion greeting card boxes that our grandmothers like to buy.
the occasions featured are everything from babies to sympathy. (the non-holiday events.)
this book caters to any level of quilter, as well as the traditional AND modern quilter alike.

in addition to the actual quilt patterns, all the basics and finishing information are included.
there are also handy tips sprinkled throughout.

although i'd love to show you all 80 pages, i just can't.
BUT there will be more to come.
promise.

i'm SO darn excited for y'all to see it!!!
watch for more sneak peeks!!!

if you would like to preorder a copy, signed copies are available HERE in my shop.
please note: quilts made with love will be released in september.
they will be shipped as soon as they arrive.

also, somebody pinch me!!!
:D

two years later.

07 May 2013

melly.
two years ago, i released my second pattern, melly.
(for details about this quilt, see here.)

lindsey on melly.
miss lindsey was six months old at the time.
i can't believe she's inching towards her third birthday.
*sigh*

two years later.
well, the other day, my niece ashleigh came over with miss nattie.
(natalie is inching towards her first birthday.)
so, our girls had a little cousin time.
i was so happy to capture this moment.

it's not my best photography, but it makes my heart happy.
it was hard to get these two to sit still long enough for me to break out my real camera.
i'm convinced this is exactly why most pics featuring kids are taken with iphones.

either way, i sure do love these babies.
and my love for this quilt just keeps growing.
